Typhoon Kompasu batters Seoul and west coastal areas

Seoul, Sept. 2 (BNA) Typhoon Kompasu struck central South Korea early Thursday morning, bringing downpours and gusts that paralyzed metro operations in the Seoul metropolitan area, caused massive power outages along the west coast and forced airlines to cancel or divert domestic and international flights.

Manama Sep 01 (BNA) Following the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Central Municipality director general Dr Mohammed Ali Hassan today visited blocks 802, 808, 810 and 814 in Isa Town to probe causes underlying the power cuts in several areas and study ways in which the Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry could cooperate with the Electricity and Water Authority to put an end to people's ordeals.
